Damian Sherwood-Johnson - Volunteer Development Coordinator

Damian.jpgDamian joined Sistema Scotland in 2016 and has over fifteen years of experience with volunteer-involving organisations. After developing a unique project in Scotland which enabled adults with learning disabilities to volunteer as peer advocates, Damian went on to manage two independent advocacy charities in Dundee before joining Children’s Hearings Scotland as their first Panel and Area Support Officer. This involved supporting volunteers across Scotland, project-managing the national recruitment campaign and assisting with the development of the Volunteer Handbook.

Damian has extensive experience of volunteering on the boards of various charities, including the Scottish Independent Advocacy Alliance and Vice-Convenor of the Volunteer Centre Dundee. He also served as a Children’s Panel member in Dundee and went on to become the Depute-Chair for Dundee’s Children’s Panel.

Damian is passionate about enhancing the volunteer experience and empowering volunteers to provide their skills and talents to their local community.
