Volunteer to make a Big Noise in your community!

Our volunteers play a huge part in our Big Noise programmes across the country - learn how they make a difference in each of our communities.

Big Noise are on the hunt for new volunteers to join our fantastic teams across Scotland. If you’re interested in volunteering with us - or know someone that you think would be a great addition to our team – find out more about the process of becoming a volunteer below!

Volunteers play a key role in all aspects of the day to day running of our Big Noise programmes

No two days at Big Noise are the same, but our volunteers can expect to help with everything from simple tasks such as setting up music stands and chairs at the start of our after-school programmes to providing support at concerts and events. Importantly, volunteers  build supportive relationships with the children and young people we work with.

Our volunteers play a vital role in making sure our programme runs smoothly, and that every one of our children and young people are supported to engage fully with their Big Noise lessons.

Aside from the important work that our teams engage in every day - over the past few years our volunteers have been involved in some really exciting events in our centres and further afield.

Our volunteers have had the opportunity to attend some fantastic concerts and music workshops - such as Nicola Benedetti’s Super Strings sessions at the Caird Hall in Dundee - as well as being on hand to help out at launch events that have showcased some of the fantastic research that has been conducted on the Big Noise model in recent years.

There is absolutely no need for prospective volunteers to have any musical experience or ability, and all of our Big Noise volunteers receive all the necessary training to perform their role. PVG checks are also undertaken, and all reasonable travel expenses are paid.

We ask that all volunteers commit to one after-school session a week at their local centre, usually between 2:30pm and 5:30pm, to help our after-school programme run as smoothly as possible. We are particularly looking for young people who  want to gain some experience through volunteering with us, and individuals  that live within our wonderful Big Noise communities themselves.

We are recruiting for volunteers for our Big Noise centres in Douglas in Dundee, and Torry in Aberdeen.

If you are interested in joining our fantastic volunteering team, then please fill out the form at makeabignoise.org.uk/volunteering, or contact Damian Sherwood-Johnson, our Volunteer Support Coordinator, at damian.sherwoodjohnson@sistemascotland.org.uk for more information.
