Christmas activities at Big Noise

As we approach Christmas, our Big Noise centres are busy practising and performing. They're also holding a range of enjoyable activities for the children and young people, who have worked so hard through 2021.

Big Noise Govanhill Christmas Concert

At the start of December, Big Noise Govanhill hosted their first community concert since 2019. Parents, carers and family members assembled, in accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, to witness the exciting culmination of all the children’s effort and determination over the past year.

The concert, which took place at the Elim Church in Govanhill, was an emotional occasion. The Big Strings group, Wind Band, Concert Band and United Orchestra performed Up in the Morning Early (by Robert Burns), Danza Africa (by Victor Lopez) and Wisteria Waltz (by Richard Meyer) among a range of other pieces.

Our original Big Noise programme, Big Noise Raploch, is marking Christmas with a host of enjoyable activities. Pre-recorded sharing concerts will be streamed on Big Noise Raploch’s Facebook page on 20th, 21st and 22nd December. Definitely something to watch out for!

The Big Noise Raploch team are also hosting festive fun sessions this week for the children and young people, which will take place in the Raploch Community Campus during after-school sessions. There will also be an outdoor school concert in Raploch on Thursday 16th December and Big Noise musicians will be out and about in the local community on that day. Every Big Noise Raploch after-school participant will receive a gift bag to take home. Our newest programme, Big Noise Fallin, will be hosting a fun festive session for participants too, as well as having Big Noise musicians out and about performing in the village on 16th December.

At Big Noise Torry the fun continues! The team are delivering Christmas goody bags to all Big Noise families and making Christmas videos at the after-school club to share with parents and carers. Big Noise Torry musicians have also featured as part of Aberdeen City council’s 'Living Advent Calendar'.

Big Noise Douglas goody bags

Big Noise Douglas is recording Christmas concerts featuring the Big Noise children and young people and these videos will stream as a Facebook Live on the centre’s Facebook page on Friday 17th December. It will be a great opportunity for parents and carers to see the result of all the Big Noise Douglas participants’ hard work over the past year. The children and young people will be given a festive goody bag to take home with them too.

Big Noise supports children and young people to reach their full potential through music and nurturing relationships.
