Vicky Blair - Team Leader
As a young cornet player Vicky grew up in West Lothian, and is a product of the rich brass band community there. She went on to study at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she received a Bachelor of Music with Honours and, most recently, a Masters in Music (Performance).
As a freelance trumpet player, she has performed with many of Scotland’s leading orchestras including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, she is also a member of the busy brass quintet, Alba Brass.
Peter Nicholson - Temporary Team Leader
Cellist Peter is a graduate of both the University of York (BA Hons) and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (MMus). He has worked with amongst others the BBC SSO and Ulster Orchestra, and taught for East Ayrshire Council and Strathclyde University.
He has established a reputation for improvisation and has collaborated with a wide range of musicians including Ravi Shankar and George Lewis. Since 2003 he has been an integral member of both The One Ensemble and the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra.
David Munn - Temporary Team Leader
Born and raised in Glasgow’s east end, David started playing the ‘cello at the age of 6, attending East Glasgow Music School, a local charity organization which provides weekly instrumental lessons and choir/orchestra training at a fraction of the cost of private tuition.
David attended the Music School of Douglas Academy in Milngavie before going onto study Music (BMus Hons) at the Universities of Glasgow and Illinois. After that, he completed a two year postgraduate course in Cello Performance (MMus with Distinction) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with Robert Irvine.
David has performed with many of the Scottish professional orchestras, and with the contemporary music ensemble Red Note. He also plays piano in a ceilidh band and is part of a string trio called StringSound.
David joined the Big Noise family in Summer 2014 and became a senior musician in 2017.
