Big Noise Douglas is Sistema Scotland's fourth centre and started in September 2017 in the Douglas community in the east of Dundee.
The programme is delivered in partnership with the schools, to all children in P1, P2 and P3 in Claypotts Castle and St Pius Primary Schools, as well as the nursery provisions in both schools. For more information about the in-school curriculum, click here. We are already working with around 450 children every week with the in-school programme, and children in P3 (2017-2018) started at After School Club in April 2018.
The children have fun with singing and games to learn about pulse and rhythm, pitch and good listening, as well as experiencing different kinds of music (click here for more information about the in-school curriculum). They are introduced to the string instruments of the orchestra (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and choose which one they would like to play. The P2s and P3s make paper instruments, and will then move on to real instruments after Christmas. They will be playing as an orchestra very soon!
All sessions and instruments are provided free of charge.
