Big Noise Douglas was launched in September 2017 and is our forth orchestra centre.
Big Noise Douglas launched in the summer of 2017 with the children of Claypotts Castle and St Pius X Primary Schools. We are currently working in school with all children in Primary 1, 2 and 3 - around 270 children in total, plus another 150 children in the school nurseries who also have weekly Big Noise sessions.
The children have fun with singing and games to learn about pulse and rhythm, pitch and good listening, as well as experiencing different kinds of music (click here for more information about the in-school curriculum). They are introduced to the string instruments of the orchestra (violin, viola, cello and double bass) and choose which one they would like to play. The P2s and P3s make paper instruments, and will then move on to real instruments after Christmas. They will be playing as an orchestra very soon!
All sessions and instruments are provided free of charge.
